Seeking students for FREE tennis program sponsorship

The VTAF is excited to announce that we are continuing to recruit participants for the School Students’ Program—an initiative established to sponsor socially and/or financially disadvantaged school students to participate in after school tennis programs, delivered in partnership with the VTA.

The Schools Program has been an important initiative for the VTA since its launch in 2021. This strong affinity is a result of the meaningful impact achieved since its launch. A summary of the venture is as follows:

  • Scholarships are awarded on referral from schools, youth programs and other agencies working with young people. The agency will manage the relationship with the family/student and VTA
  • Students aged 6-18 years will be considered.
  • The privacy and safety of scholarship holders is guaranteed. VTA preserve the privacy of the child by ensuring that none of the players or coach are aware that the student is on a scholarship.
  • The scholarship provides coaching and equipment free of charge for one year, and may be renewable. This includes a 1-hour group coaching session weekly during term time. The biggest programs are run through the Fawkner Park Tennis Centre (S Yarra) and Powlett Reserve Tennis Centre (E Melbourne), together with Caulfield Park Tennis Centre. There are also opportunities to join in at Oakleigh Tennis Club.

We will consider referrals at any time of year and will accept students as long as we have capacity. Please make contact for further information and referrals through the secretary of the Foundation, Dr Gill Duchesne via email: foundation@victennisacademy.com.au
