Sunday 12 July saw a gathering of the VTA Powlett Reserve tennis community to celebrate the life of their fellow player and friend Pippa. Despite the bitter cold, wind and showers, the weather did not manage to put people off, and everyone enjoyed a wonderful get-together remembering her. Her parents Mary-Lou and Keith reminded us of how sassy she was (their word), and indeed she was winning competitions just 4 months before she passed.
Great fun was had with fast rounds of social tennis games. The dress code was white, and even Batman wore white under his cape! Wonderful catering was provided by the Grocery Bar just up the road in East Melbourne. Thank you to Roberto and his team for all the organisation. The VTA Foundation (vtafoundation.org.au) was privileged to be the beneficiary of donations for the day, over $3000 being raised which will go towards supporting the adults’ Rally4Ever community program that runs at Powlett. Thank you to all for your generosity. Pippa would be proud😊
Vale Pippa, and thank you.
