Take to the court on wheels
This week saw the Foundation achieve one of the milestones we put in place as we were setting the charity up. Thanks to Tennis Victoria we have a tennis wheelchair on loan to the Foundation. Thanks to VTA, we have a coach who has worked with elite wheelchair athletes in several sports, Max who wants to bring his skills into play through VTA and the Foundation. And we have a first-timer tennis tragic who began to learn the ropes this week thanks to Max, at Fawkner Park Tennis Centre.
Our Association rules say that our purpose is:
“To enable members of the community with disabilities and those who face social, economic or other barriers to benefit by participating in the sport of tennis.”
Our Annual Report this year (2024-2025) will tell you about how much your support has helped us to make a difference for those living with barriers limiting their access to play. This will be published here on this website and on the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) website after our AGM on August 29th.
All this is part of how we have been working behind the scenes to bring together many of the strings required to start work for our other purpose – helping those with disabilities. One of which is our work with the Victorian College for the Deaf, that you will see in the Annual Report.
